Cirque Le Roux embarks on the adventure of producing shows by associate artists!

Because Cirque Le Roux has always had the project of accompanying other artists, Allan Sartori’s first creation is the occasion for the company to experiment the concept of associate artist, in order to defend their aesthetics of “cinema-circus” on the contemporary scene.

Hedy Lamarr

INTENTION

Hedy Lamarr is a fascinating figure, at the crossroads of war, the world of cinema, luxury and inventions that still exist today even in our telephones. Taking the opposite path of Georges Méliès (magician and inventor of special effects for the cinema), Allan Sartori is inspired by special effects to twist reality into a scene thanks to Magie Nouvelle, in order to revisit the story of this woman. The stage becomes a place of all possibilities: to give life to Hedy’s brilliant and crazy inventions. Rediscover the rhythm and music of her exchanges with her pianist friend Georges. To relive moments of cinema by freeing oneself from the limits of the stage, to twist reality and make two German spies appear in search of her inventions… Impossible changes, magic, flights of fancy, unrealistic duels and stunts, Hedy Lamarr is a hymn to invention and the unexpected.

WHO IS HEDY LAMARR ?
Hedy Lamarr, born in 1914 in Austria, will very early see her image of actress upset. In 1934, she gets a role in Extase and plays for the first time in the history of cinema an orgasm. This scene will result in a sulphurous reputation that will never leave her. She then left Austria, became a naturalized American and signed with the biggest Hollywood studios. Hedy Lamarr defies appearances. While she was designated “the most beautiful woman in the world”, she was secretly an inventor of genius, far from the film sets. In the middle of the war, she invented a multitude of things: rationing systems for soldiers, a frequency hopping torpedo guide to help refugees from Europe cross the ocean, as well as the premises of the wifi…

SUMMARY OF THE PLAY

Five colorful characters will love, challenge and kill each other in this closed-door setting for the next thirty-two hours. The elegant Hedy Lamarr, her best pianist friend Georges, two German spies disguised as American journalists and an invisible but surprising assistant are the protagonists of this play which invents an episode from the life of the inventor. Like a painting by Tarantino, the blood will flow on their powder pink three-piece suits and the shots, like in the best cartoons, will have the ability to undress our characters, going from an evening gown to a nightie in just a few shots.
