Stage direction / Scenography

The word “inscape” refers to the singularity in each human being but also means “inner- landscapes” or “escaping within”. For me, creating INSCAPE on stage was about taking people on the journey I traveled during the years that I created the album. Years consisting of upheavals, existential crisis, and of visiting various inner-states within myself. It was about bringing the audience into my intimate space and walking them through the different chapters of this period. Traveling through memories, imaginary places and very profound and personal emotions.

We chose to integrate many visual aspects of the project into the scenography: the illustrations of the cover-art by Elisabeth Gravel, the graphic design by Catherine Pelletier and some images of the video of the first single directed by Edith Jorisch. Gregory Arsenal and Philip Rosenberg from Le Cirque Le Roux seamlessly combined all of these elements by working with contrast, light and movement to create an atmosphere that is simultaneously intimate and grandiose, inviting the spectator on an introspective voyage. The show is built as a cinematographic portrayal, with a unifying narrative joining the seasons of the year with life’s transformations. Spectators will have access to my personal emotional journey but also be immersed in the worlds of the artists who drew their inspiration from the music and the meaning of the word “inscape” with in their own lives.

Overall, the live experience of INSCAPE is meant to be intimate, poetic, and visual. It is also my desire to share some of the vulnerable states I’ve been through in order to appeal to the fragility that we share as human beings and thus, be less alone.
