The Revenge of Vivanne Rose
A show by Jackie Star et Cie
Viviane Rose, dressed in blue satin, with shaggy hair and a cigarette in her mouth, starts her 4th whisky of the morning... Viviane is an opera singer. Well, she used to be... Because after her last scandal at La Scala in 1965, when she slapped, bit and pushed her partner, the famous tenor Tito Ruggiero, into the audience, she was thrown out of the business and condemned by the press. Viviane has not sung since. Financial difficulties have been mounting.
It's almost 11 o'clock this morning when Georges, her butler, brings her coffee, pills and buttered toast on both sides into the parlour. That's when everything changed. A little bird on the windowsill began to sing. Viviane, between two clears of throat, spins out a few vocalisations. A miracle! Georges has the idea of putting her back on stage by any means necessary to replenish the coffers. Noël, Viviane's son and a soldier, arrives unexpectedly. Georges, hiding guilty secrets, has his back to the wall, and, unable to tell him about the money problems, makes him believe that his mother is ill... This is the start of a gigantic imbroglio, which will go from lies to misunderstandings, from kidnapping to disguises, from pretence to stunts, but to what end? Whatever happens, Viviane must sing again!
